2013 Literature Fair

On February 15th, the 2013 Coweta-Fayette Literature Fair was a beautiful success thanks to the volunteer judges, amazing students, and generosity of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church.  We filled the building with 13 judges, 58 projects, nearly 70 students, and an untold number of visitors.

Each year, students from two counties and numerous groups, work diligently to read a book, research a topic related to the story, write a research paper, complete a book report and display a hands-on project.  The work is challenging and enjoyed by the students who choose a favorite book.  This fair is offered to allow students to interact with judges for an interview, to encourage a love of literature, and to celebrate the love of learning.

Our largest grade level division this year was 7th/8th grade.  The students came from a variety of home school programs in the area including The Bridge Writing Class from Eagle's Nest Christian Home Educators and Coram Deo Classical School.  The competition was quite fierce with excellence in writing and creativity.

Welcome to the Coweta-Fayette Homeschool Literature Fair Blog! We are just a group of three home school moms who love enriching literature and want to pass that love on to our children. It all begins with a book. Then, the children journey through the book, going deeper. So deep, in fact, that by the end of the process, the children can claim ownership of that book. The process, while rigorous, appeals to different learning styles. Participants are learning skills that will serve them well throughout their lives - organization, communication - both written and verbal, perseverance, and grace. And, afterwards, they have the satisfaction of a job well done. My children tend to keep their projects for a few months after the fair because of all the hard work that went into them! No matter what the complaining during the process, there is an excitement that builds as we get closer to Literature Fair day. My daughter equated it to the night before Christmas - and she is in high school! Every year on the drive home, my children have thanked me for bringing them to the Literature Fair. Participating in the Literature Fair is such a rewarding process on so many levels ... and it all begins with a book.

Our Mission Statement

The Coweta-Fayette Literature Fair exists to enable home school students to immerse themselves in quality literature; research an appropriate topic(s) associated with the literature; share their gained knowledge and completed work through written word, a display, and an interview with a judge; and experience success through the completion of required tasks, all within a Godly environment.
